Founder and CEO: Tamieka Johnson, MSW

Tamieka Johnson, a native of Buffalo, NY, has a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences and a Master of Social Work from the University at Buffalo. She was an EOP student and Schomburg Fellowship recipient. Graduating Magna Cum Laude, she served as commencement speaker for both degrees. Her career started at EPIC, where she coordinated parenting classes across WNY, including for incarcerated men at the Erie County Holding Center. Managing 15 grants, she met goals and handled reporting and site visits. Throughout the years, she led various groups on topics such as parenting, women’s issues, and youth development.

Educational Transition

Tamieka Johnson’s profound affection for children prompted her to become part of the Buffalo Public School System, where she committed more than 12 years to diverse educational positions. Throughout her time as a Site Facilitator for Closing the Gap in Student Performance and five years as Director of Student Support Services at Charter School of Inquiry (CSI), she addressed non-academic obstacles that impeded student achievement. This experience ignited her enthusiasm for empowering others, especially in the realms of spiritual and emotional wellness.

Spiritual Foundation

Tamieka’s spiritual journey led to the creation of Teach Me and Teachable Moments, Inc. (TM&TM, Inc.), a nonprofit organization that combines spirituality and mental health. TM&TM emphasizes mutual teaching, learning, healing, and resilience to promote positive relationships and the pursuit of dreams. Through programs like EmpowH.E.R – Healing, Empowered, Resilient, and M.E.N. – Mighty Empowered & Noble, Tamieka advocates for perseverance in the face of life’s challenges.

As a lifetime member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Leadership Buffalo Class Experience, and an active member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, Tamieka exemplifies commitment to service. Her accolades, such as the “Social Worker of the Year” award, affirm her dedication. Guided by faith and Psalms 37:5, Tamieka continues to uplift and support, spreading peace and optimism to all.
